ABOUT US
Cobram Barooga Equestrian Club commenced in March 1992 .. Situated in the Sun Country on the Murray - the Cobram/Barooga Equestrian Club (CBEC) is affiliated with the Horse Riding Clubs Association of Victoria (HRCAV). The CBEC caters for both senior and junior riders who want to try their hand at most equestrian disciplines. The club provides quality instructors for Dressage, Showjumping, Eventing and Showing disciplines. Our aim is to train and improve our horses & our riding through good quality instruction, to promote good fellowship amongst those interested in equestrian sports and most importantly to have a great deal of fun while achieving our goals. The club holds five official competitions per year, the first four held over 2 days - usually the first or second weekend in April, ie our Official Dressage Championships and Official Showjumping Jackpot over two days and in October we hold an Official Show Ring at the Cobram Show. Our club is very friendly and very supportive of all our members and fellow competitors and members are constantly out and about successfully representing the club at various HRCAV events and other Equestrian Events.
OUR GROUNDS which are located at the Barooga Recreational Reserve, Burkinshaw Street, Barooga. include a full size sand arena, 20mtr fully enclosed round yard, holding horse yards, stallion yard, jumps, equipment shed and club rooms with fully equipped kitchen, change rooms, showers and toilets.
TRAINING DAYS are usually held the fourth Sunday of each month but are subject to change depending on the events calendar. Change of date will be published on our Facebook page. Weekend clinics in Dressage, Showjumping & Eventing are also held during the year usually at the grounds with registered, qualified instructors.
MEETINGS some are held at the Training Days, however the Barooga Sports Club we use for our Annual General Meeting as well as some General Meetings along with dinner prior to the meetings. Notice of meeting is usually via email or CBEC Club Facebook page.
CLUB UNIFORM: (View pics. below) Because our club is affiliated with the HRCAV we are required to adhere to particular dress codes. Our official registered club colours are burgundy (main colour) with gold & black and these registered colours must be worn at all official events with neutral coloured jodhpurs ( i.e. fawn, white or banana coloured) and long or short riding boots and an approved equestrian helmet with a fixed harness MUST be worn at all times while mounted. Club colours must be worn on riders upper body with the club logo displayed on the upper body garment and or saddle blanket. For official events rider may choose to wear burgundy vest with gold buttons and white ratcatcher/collard and stock or white shirt and burgundy tie can be worn for competitions as a well as club T'Shirt. HRCAV - The Horse Riding Clubs Association of Victoria currently has 205 member Clubs with 5200 individual members spread across Victoria and parts of NSW. The HRCAV caters for a wide range of riders who enjoy the social aspect of Club membership as well as access to the extensive competition system. The HRCAV caters for beginner riders right through to experienced competitors with a level assessment system that ensures that you will compete against others of similar experience and ability. Level 5 (least difficult) to Advanced (hardest). Recognised Disciplines in the HRCAV are Dressage, Showjumping, Combined Training, Horse Trials, Showing, 3 Phase Equitation and Navigation Rides.
